OK-ACRL and the Carpentries

Tidy Data and OpenRefine pre-conference Workshop

This year, as a workshop leading up to the Annual Conference, OK-ACRL presents an opportunity to learn about best practices for tidy data in spreadsheets and how to use OpenRefine to manipulate and improve your data in powerful ways. It will take place on Thursday, November 10 from 9:00 to noon. Go to https://okacrl.wufoo.com/forms/z1hgyarf14hculo/ to learn more and register.

The deadline is November 8, 2o22 at 11:59 PM. There is no cost for this pre-conference workshop, but you will have an opportunity to donate to the OK-ACRL Endowment.

The goals of OK-ACRL lead us to seek out and provide educational opportunities for academic library workers across the state. To this end, we have supported the Library Carpentry program for several years. The Carpentries (Software, Data, and Library) is a volunteer led program for teaching beginners about coding and data tools. Its focus is on teaching practical skills and increasing the confidence of learners.

Several members of the OK-ACRL Board have become certified as Carpentries instructors, and we have also partnered with Carpentries efforts at OU and OSU.
